A Natal Green Snake ascends the grapevine, keeping an eye on me as I photograph it through the window.
The Natal Green Snake is a graceful and skilful climber. It has no fangs and is not venomous and is harmless to humans.

Awesome photo. The shape of its face reminds me of the garter snakes common in our region.

Thank you. Not sure how closely related to garter snakes these green snakes are.

Now is the time for snakes in the garden. I have removed a Puffadder and seen (the same?) a Boomslang twice in the same bushes near our swimming pool.

I have heard that Boomslangs can become quite tame if treated with respect and that they are generally unaggressive. Have not seen any here but they are likely to be around.

A great photo! But if saw that thing looking back at me, I think I would scream!

That look is enough. It doesn’t have to be venomous.

Great photo (as well as those in ‘The snake that tamed me’). I’ve always liked snakes and found them incredibly graceful in their movements. In Hawaii, there are supposedly no snakes, though one turns up from time to time. However, this is a good thing as they’d undoubtedly decimate the bird population as the brown tree snake has done in Guam.

Thanks Eliza. I am happy you use the word pretty in relation to this beautiful snake. Many people wouldn’t do that!
