Far away from suburbia, Mabuasehube Game Reserve in southern Botswana.
I have always admired landscape photography as I find it so difficult to take an effective photograph of landscapes with big skies and wide horizons. Although that doesn’t mean I don’t try!
This photo was taken looking across the Mabuasehube pan in the Mabuasehube Game Reserve. I relied on the tree and the clouds in the desert sky to bring some interest to the landscape as its impressive vastness eludes the camera.

That is a fine landscape shot. It clearly conveys the vast openness of your scene. I only get a bit of that feeling looking out to sea. The rest of our landscape is pretty often hemmed in by tall trees.

Thanks Gunta. Interestingly the landscape in photo is thought to have once been part of an ancient seabed.

Wonderful. The sort of scene that makes you want to throw your arms wide to embrace it.

Big Sky seems a fair enough description! I think you have conveyed the vastness very well: I can certainly tell it’s not Surrey 😉

I think the billowy clouds are nice in giving the sense of scale. Also the little creature on the left, a wildebeest perhaps?

Thanks Graham. And yes, it is a wildebeest – well spotted!
