Here in the southern hemisphere we a have been stacking our woodpile with dry wood in readiness for the winter that lies ahead.
All of this wood comes from trees felled or trimmed in our own or in a friend’s garden. Most were alien species, but, sadly, some indigenous trees were felled because they were too close to buildings or plumbing. We make a point of planting more trees than we fell, in our own garden and the adjacent area.
We use the wood for heating our living space, burning it in our small wood-burning stove. We also use it for heating water and for cooking one-pot meals.
This picture of our densely packed woodpile is my response to this week’s photo challenge theme “dense”, highlighting texture as a core element of photography.
