Who, who’s watching who? A young vervet monkey watched me, matching my curiosity as I watched back.
This youngster was sitting comfortably on the end of a rafter supporting the roof over our back deck, observing me with frank interest, evidently primate watching.

Even the youngsters have such strong personalities. I should think they observe us as individuals too – afterall their lives may depend on how well they assess us. But not so many human primates bother to be as discriminating in return.

Thanks Leya. Even though we see the vervets regularly, I still regard them as very special and each individual is unique.
