After a hard morning foraging for food, one of the benefits of high rank is that you can get to choose a prime resting spot.
This male Vervet Monkey keeps an eye on me as he makes himself comfortable as he settles down to rest in the fork of a tree in our garden. The rest of the troop were also catching some R&R, with several indulging in grooming sessions while youngsters played discreetly during this quiet period of the day.

That tree seems a perfect shape to let him rest!

He does look totally languid, though he remains watchful as all wild animals must I guess.

Charming indeed. Looks like inspiration for me to crawl under the covers to imitate his thoroughly relaxed pose. 🙂

Makes me tired just looking at him. He’s picked a good spot.

I suppose it’s the fact that they look so very like human children that makes them so endearing.

I like that they wear their hearts on their sleeves, so to speak.
