Continuing with the baby animal series is this photo of a fledgling Marico Flycatcher.
It is calling and begging incessantly while its busy mother searches for food to bring. This photo was taken in the heat of a late morning in a camp on the edge of Piper Pan in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana.

Thanks Suzette. These weekly photos are found in my ‘archive’, but this series of finds from Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana certainly make we want to visit there yet again!

Enchanting. The little fellow’s beak is so wide open one imagines it could take in far more than a fly if it so desired!

Yes, it is an enormously wide gape, and trying to fill it kept its parent really busy.

It looks very exposed. Is it a predator-free zone? Great photo opportunity though!

There is a small cluster of trees at the small campsite providing shelter, food and nesting sites on the edge of a huge salt pan. Ironically the presence of human campers may deter predators and some birds tolerate human company and even put up with patient photographers too ☺
