Nougat the cat got cornered when doing some high-altitude exploring. Here he is apparently stuck on the corner at the top of the grocery cupboard in a corner of the kitchen.
Nougat is one of our rescued feral kittens. He was found tiny and all alone with his eyes not yet open (about 10 days old) at my husband’s workplace and given to a fork-lift driver to look after. So he could carry on with his work after summonsing my husband to come and rescue the kitten, the driver placed the kitten in a cardboard box and drove around with it so as to keep the kitten safe.
Long story short, I later fetched the tiny, frightened, dehydrated and hungry kitten, and took him home. He became our third singleton bottle-reared kitten.
He was vaguely pinkish when he was tiny, and he was very, very, very sweet and so obviously, he was called Nougat.
Nougat survived against the odds and he has completely stolen a substantial corner of my heart.

Thanks so much for your kind comment Bipasha. Yes he is lucky and he is a fighter, and he has had more than his fair share of challenges, but I feel even luckier to have such a sunny little soul brightening my every day 🙂

Beautiful story. Nougat looks wonderful and healthy. Many of my early childhood memories center around our cat Benzel, who looked just like him.

Thanks Kathrin. Nice to know that that photos of Nougat reminded you of your special friend, Benzel. I also remember the cats of my childhood with ongoing affection.

He is so beautiful and what a heartwarming story! Our new little rescue kitten is settling amazingly well after just 2 days. He too enjoys climbing. So far he’s not done much adventuring in the kitchen though. It will come!

That was my first idea to use “cornered” but after realizing it is not worth the effort painting myself into a corner, I let it go… Beautiful cat!

Yes, tricky challenge. Glad you like Nougat. He looks uncharacteristically grown-up in the pic.

What a marvelous story.
We’ve had a few rescue cats in our time as well.

Thanks Ark. Rescue animals are so special are they not? Fortunately my heart seems to have lots of corners forever taken over by many wonderful cats. One rescued cat himself became a caring foster ‘mom’ helping us raise quite a few kittens, including Nougat, that we adopted or fostered. Perhaps he is a story for another day.

We ran a real escape company a while back and one day we went along to see some clients as they moved into their new home. They had hired a flat bed truck for their furniture and sometime between loading furniture and trips back to the old house someone passed by and left a box of kittens on the truck. They were Siamese cross and only a few days old, and still blind,
Incredible to think that people could just dump animals like this. But they do … sadly.
At one time we had 23 cats, a number of which were rescued.

I think olive oil tins are so cheering. When we started keeping the tins of olive oil we had tried, we had no idea they were soon to be discontinued. That they are now hard to find makes our small collection a bit special.
