The threadbare wings of this butterfly are evidence of the transient nature of its life.
Regardless of its worn wings, this Natal Acraea butterfly still showed considerable zest and determination when feeding at this lavender flower in our garden.

What a fabulous ‘transient’ post. I really enjoy the direction you took, but perhaps that’s because I’m butterfly obsessed.

Thanks Elayne. Apart from their beauty, perhaps there is something about the seeming restlessness of butterflies on the wing that attracts us?

Thanks Roda. And that is what they usually do – flutter by and make photographing them impossible – but this one was intent on its meal. And maybe also a little weary??

Thank you so much. It was surprising that it didn’t seem to mind being approached by me and the camera lens!

Thanks Pete. It looked travel worn, but still going strong nevertheless.
